About The Frederick Rescue Mission There are currently over 400 homeless men, women, and children in Frederick County, and no one is doing more to supply their basic needs of food and clothing than the Frederick Rescue Mission. Last year FRM served 90,168 meals which equals to about 250 meals a day. Also, in 2009 almost $50,000 of clothing and furniture were given away for free to men, women and children in great need. In 2009 the Mission distributed a monthly average of 134 food boxes to feed 289 poor adults and 231 hungry children each month. Founded in 1964 by a man passionate to help the less fortunate, the Mission was initially a ten-bed shelter for homeless men. As other needs became more prominent, the Mission also began to serve breakfast and lunch seven days a week to hungry and needy men, women, and children in the area. It also started taking donations of new or gently-used clothing and furniture to give away to families and individuals in need. The ten-bed shelter evolved into a drug and alcohol recovery program, as many of the men seeking shelter were dealing with substance abuse and addictions in some form. Since then, the Mission has grown into Frederick's
largest provider of hot meals to the homeless and needy community, largest
men's transitional shelter in Frederick, and a free source of food boxes,
clothing, and furniture to all those in need. Every day of the year, over
300 people in need come to Mission to receive help from caring people who
dedicate their money, time, and energy to the Mission's cause. Frederick
Rescue Mission: providing hope to the hopeless 365 days a year. To learn
